Retirement strategies lunches – back on the road!

It has been great to get back on the road with our Retirement Strategies Lunches. During September, we welcomed advisers to events in Birmingham and Leeds to discuss the practical challenges of supporting clients as they approach and move through retirement.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. The sessions generated some fantastic discussion around building effective retirement propositions, managing withdrawals and tax efficiency, and selecting investment strategies that can support clients throughout retirement.

Latest peer group performance

We are pleased to report that all models continue to perform well against their peer groups on a risk-adjusted basis, while remaining within their defined risk targets. Importantly, this strong performance has been delivered while keeping portfolios within their intended risk levels, helping advisers remain aligned to client objectives through different market conditions.

Using the Transact - BlackRock MPS at retirement

This practical guide provides a framework for using the MPS as part of a Centralised Retirement Proposition. It brings together the key considerations of longevity, sequencing risk and income generation, alongside practical guidance on cash-flow modelling, portfolio selection, tax-wrapper and withdrawal sequencing, and regular client reviews.

The guide also considers how Transact sub-wrappers and the cash facility can support a bucket-based approach, with assets segmented according to clients' spending needs, longer-term investment objectives and intended legacies.

An adviser's guide to retirement investing

This guide takes a deeper look at three important retirement investment objectives: guarding against longevity drift, managing sequencing risk and replacing income from salary. It provides a straightforward framework to help advisers assess the investment requirements of clients approaching or already in retirement.

It explores the role of growth-focused portfolios across different volatility levels, the importance of downside resilience and bucket-based planning, and the use of controlled unit encashment to provide regular client payments.

Together, the guides provide both a practical overview of how the Transact - BlackRock MPS can support retirement planning and a more detailed exploration of the investment challenges advisers need to consider.

MPS reporting support for advisers

Staying close to the detail

Clear, regular investment reporting is a vital part of helping advisers stay close to client portfolios. For the Transact – BlackRock MPS, we have a range of monthly and quarterly materials available to support your conversations, client reviews and ongoing due diligence.

Monthly Factsheets

The Monthly Factsheets provide a client-facing summary for each of the seven model portfolios, covering objectives, risk profile, performance, charges and current holdings. They are designed to give clients a clear snapshot of the model they are invested in, including asset allocation, regional exposure and key investment risks.

Monthly Performance Summary

For a quicker overview across the whole range, the Monthly Performance Summary brings together performance for all seven models in one place. It includes cumulative returns, annualised returns and annual performance, helping advisers review the range consistently and efficiently each month.

Quarterly Investment Summary

The Quarterly Investment Summary provides a deeper view, including market commentary, portfolio positioning, risk, performance review and peer group performance. It is particularly useful for advisers looking to understand how the portfolios have performed, what has driven returns and how the range is positioned.

Rebalance Commentary

When BlackRock rebalance, or make changes to the portfolios, the Rebalance Commentary explains the latest positioning and the rationale for asset allocation changes. The commentary sets out BlackRock’s current themes and views alongside the portfolio changes made during the period.

All of these reports are available on our dedicated landing page on Transact. Simply log in and go to Templates > Transact – BlackRock MPS. This is also where you can access the latest investment reports, literature and commentaries.

Monthly MPS Newsletter

Finally, our monthly MPS Newsletter remains a simple way to stay up to date. It includes the latest market commentary, portfolio positioning and performance updates, helping advisers keep informed without having to search for the detail each month. If you’d like to be added to the distribution list please just drop us an email TransactMPS@intgerafin.co.uk.
