Why did you join Transact?

I started working for Transact as a Client Service Manager (CSM). I applied off the back of a recommendation from a former employee. It appealed to me as the role has a wide variety of work types, frequent interaction with advisers and it would give me the opportunity to develop my financial services knowledge.

Talk us through your career at Transact so far.

I have always worked within the Client Operations department as a CSM, and have worked on three different regional teams.

I have also completed two secondments to other areas of the business. The first was on the Support and Resource team which gave me exposure to how other business areas work, and here I was involved in making resource decisions based on workloads within the Client Operations department. The second was with the Client Approval team which enhanced my understanding of the process for setting up client portfolios, and enabled me to learn Transact’s Anti-Money Laundering controls in more depth.

In 2018 I moved to the Technical department and started my role as Operational Technical Support.

What does your role involve on a day-to-day basis?

The majority of my day is spent checking pension drawdown cases have been processed correctly. This involves providing final sign-off for all pension benefit requests leaving the platform, and crystallised pension transfers on to the platform. I provide general support to Operations on processing related matters, as well as input and feedback in relation to technical matters. Once all the cases have been checked, we analyse the results and report this to management within Client Operations.

What do you enjoy about working at Transact?

I really enjoy the variety of the role; providing excellent customer service, processing and checking instructions, and training team members are just a few aspects. Having this variety means no two days are the same at Transact, and that really helps to keep me interested and motivated.

How would you describe the culture at Transact?

Since I joined Transact, I have seen the company grow whilst the culture has remained the same, and this is due to the people. Transact does not have the ‘normal’ city culture and there is a more relaxed feel than previous companies I have worked for.

Having said that, there is an ambitious nature within the company and a continuous drive to improve. It is very apparent that Transact takes pride in the service it provides.

What advice would you give someone joining Transact?

I would recommend being prepared to join a growing company, to have an open mind and be prepared to embrace change.
